from June 2009 when they got a notice in Hemmings that they were filming  http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2009/06/independant-film-minus-movie-maker.html

for some reason, you can pre-order now, and get one of the 1969 special editions, or wait til May 2nd an get a regular copy

Inspired by classic car movies like the original GONE in 60 SECONDS, TWO LANE BLACKTOP, GRAND PRIX, BULLITT and LeMANS- Actor/ racer turned filmmaker Jay Rowlands wanted to bring gearheads around the world more of what they really want to see in the movies: Real cars. Real drivers. Real action.

CLUTCH is a full feature length dramatic action film telling the story of a struggling small town racer who finds out there are no short cuts to victory lane. Race driver Travis Engels risks his life, friends and freedom when he takes a wrong turn in his attempts to support his racing.

CLUTCH is a full throttle effort to tell a story about the truth and integrity of basic humanity while combining the elements of action, romance, comedy and human emotion. Filmed entirely in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and packed with the most popular American musclecars ever!

CLUTCH is a tribute to the Hollywood car films of the 60′s and 70′s. The movie has been created and produced by Jay Rowlands with people who share his passion for fast cars and making movies!

When the driver side mount broke, engine torque made the block lift up, and pull open the accelerator linkage.
This caused an increase in pull on the throttle to the carb, causing increased revs and more torque twist to the engine, and with more upward movement causing more runaway acceleration in a vicious circle.

This runaway sequence would only stop when the engine hit the underside of the hood.

But that wasn't all, the twisting upward engine pulled the power brake booster vacuum hose loose, making it harder to stop the car, and if that wasn't bad enough... the twist also caused a problem with the automatic transmission, which would shift to the right, with a result of the car no longer having a park position and being able to start in reverse.

New motor mounts cost $50 a unit, and so GM fixed the issue with a $1.00 bracket and cable to hold the engine down if/when the motor mount broke.

Consider that the problem caused a 6.68 million car recall, then multiply the number of cars by the cost of the repair part, and you can see why Gm went for the cheap simple fix.

I learned all this from the May 2012 issue of MuscleCar Review, page 24

Original everything, paint, interior, hell... it's probably got 1969 air in the tires!
the second owner put it in the garage in 1982... and left it there... BARNFIND!

this is a X-33 car and was ordered with custom (deluxe) interior, fold down back seat, radio delete, headlight washers (only 116 non-RS cars were ordered with this option), and rear window defroster.

Tom sold this car in 1977, located and purchased it back in Feb. 2010.  Not only is it a 22,133 mile 1969 Z28, but it is a rare JL8 Factory Option  (Four Wheel Power Disc Brake 1 of 206) and a Stripe Delete car.  He still has the Warranty Card & Protect-O-Plate that he kept when he sold the car in 1977, not for any reason except they were not important back then and rarely did anyone ask for it when they were purchasing a car from a private party

The movie starts with the guy racing a 73 Duster,

Then having to try his Chevelle against local senior talent, the Sandman. The Sandman was played by an incredibly long working guy, Bob Minor, who has been doing movie and tv stunts and stunt coordinator work since 1970. He's worked in lots of the blaxploitation movies, and Starsky and Hutch, Kojak, Magnum PI, Boyz in the Hood, Die Hard 4, Conspiracy Theory, Oceans 11, The Italian Job and many more. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0591567/

The Sandman couldn't make the curve when the cops started chasing the streetracers, and wiped out
then the guy has several races against some cool cars, and keeps winning.
And with his confidence at an all time high, he then takes a high stakes bet with the local gangster loan shark, the Fatman, that he can beat the gangters driver, the rotton crook gangster fixes the race with a ringer who destroys the Chevelle, and the high schooler loses his mony.

in a desperate attempt to win double or nothing, the kid bets he can beat the local street racing legend "Fast Freddy" 's historically famous high speed run from Minneapolis to St Paul. Surpise polt twist, the kids High School Principl was Fast Freddy, and the 57 Chev that made that race is buried under the football field, ready to get vengeance against the gangster

The high school auto shop class gets the 57 Chev race ready, and pulls off the first water soluble paint job in a movie I ever saw. Also the first example of the one car gets chased into a building by cops, but lots of identical cars leave, and the cops can't track the right car... trick. Mix them together and a red car goes in but leaves a car wash blue with a flamejob, among a dozen other cars or various colors

This movie is fun, but never going to get put on DVD, there just isn't a demand for 1980's high school action street racing movies. The VHS is so rare, the one guy who has them on Amazon, wants $170 dollars.

I hate price gougers, so I'm telling all of you you can watch it free on You Tube. The quality isn't sharp, but neither was 1980's tv and movie resolution.
