The car was spotted pounding around the Nürburging on a recent industry test day. Lamborghini sources have not commented on the identity of the prototype, but officials have previously hinted there is more to come from what is already the most potent supercar in the company’s history, with the Aventador’s 6.5-litre V12 currently producing 690bhp.
The ‘SV’ suffix has found its way onto ultimate versions of Lamborghini’s supercars throughout the company’s history, including the most recent Murciélago and Diablo models, and the classic Miura.
While any comment on output would be speculative, the Murciélago SV’s power hike over the standard model was 29bhp, which could be indicative of any increase an Aventador SV would receive.
More significant for the Murciélago SV model were the agressively styled body kit and considerable 100kg reduction in weight.
The Aventador mule spied here wears a series of more sporting features over the standard car, including a new front lip spoiler, centre-locking alloys with wider tyres and beefed-up brake calipers. The ride height also appears to have been lowered.
Should this mule be representative of a production car due any time soon, the Aventador SV would arrive much earlier in the model’s life than the Murciélago SV. That car was a run-out special offered during the model’s final couple of years on sale.
