the 70's were quite a roll, the cars that were customized were far out, the ones that were produced were lousy. Here's a cheer to the customizers, the "Street Freaks" , and the street racers. Winged warrior variety

How about that hood scoop arrangement? A pair of Super Bee / Demon scoops, and arranged in a unique way I've never seen before. Plus, the fender scoops for tire clearance that are normally found on Superbirds aren't on this car
all found on http://70sstreetmachines.tumblr.com and http://gassers.tumblr.com

The car, and the competition... the Better Off Dead 1967 Camaro
0 comments Posted by Unknown at 9:20 PMa funny situation in the movie Better Off Dead that I forgot about until I rewatched it just now to see the Camaro, was the rivalry between John Cusack's character Lane Meyer, and the two brothers in the Falcon. Every time that Lane came to a stop light, these brothers were waiting and goading him to a drag race. The driver didn't speak English, and the passenger learned from Wide World of Sports by listening to Howard Cosell. So he grabs a CB microphone and speaks over a PA system mounted to the Falcon roof.
Lane is driving a station wagon because early in the movie his Camaro doesn't run
The station wagon loses. A lot.
Then the cute girl across the street decides to help out our hero in need
And now the dashing young hero wins. Good movie, 1985 wholesome teenage highschool goodness.

And that damn newspaper kid that wants his two dollars:
I first posted about the Camaro 5 years ago when I learned that it had been found and restored. http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2007/07/camaro-from-better-off-dead-found-and.html

Street racing near Seattle, now on a National Geographic Channel tv show "Street Heat: High Speed Justice"
0 comments Posted by Unknown at 6:46 PMfrom the press release: This one-hour special takes viewers to the streets of Kent, Washington, where nighttime street racing is a way of life-and a zero-tolerance crime.
Every summer weekend, hundreds of street racers unleash their souped-up rides on Kent's notorious street racing scene, turning the city into a high-octane playground where one false move could result in tragedy.
And every weekend, an elite task force of law enforcement has just one mission-to stop the racers in their tracks. Using their own high-performance vehicles to even the playing field, it's a battle for the streets as officer’s chases racers down side roads, main thoroughfares, and through warehouse lots trying to keep one step ahead. But with speeds topping 120 miles an hour, the stakes are high-and this cat-and-mouse game can turn deadly.
Street Heat: High Speed Justice
Premieres Fri, 31 Aug at 11:00pm on National Geographic Channel
