Kia has revealed a refreshed Optima at the New York motor show.
Due to arrive in the UK in the first half of 2014, it benefits from myriad styling and technical updates.
Externally, the facelifted Optima gets updated front and rear end styling, a revised grille, new rear diffusers and a redesigned bootlid. This gives it a sleeker silhouette.
LED daytime running lights, rear LED lamps and new wheel designs complete the modern-looking exterior upgrades.
Inside, there are tweaks that include a new 4.3-inch TFT instrument cluster and an optional high-resolution 8-inch sat-nav and media system. Kia claims that the cabin delivers a more premium feel with new seats, trims and soft-touch materials.
A new drive mode selector offers Sport, Eco and Normal modes. It adjusts the throttle response, gear shifts and steering weight.
Michael Sprague, executive vice president, marketing & communications, Kia Motors America, said “The Optima is the cornerstone of Kia’s design evolution and epitomises the brand’s goal of building highly captivating, value-positioned vehicles.”
The Optima has been Kia's best-seller for 15 months running in the US and was the best-selling Kia in a single year ever in 2012.
