Saab has been rescued from the brink by Chinese investors and now we’ve got the first image of the car hoping to keep the Swedish firm’s fortune on the up – the new Saab 9-3.
The image appeared on a Swedish website that claimed to have a copy of Saab’s business presentation to the European Investment Bank in January this year. In it were details of the future product line-up that included the 9-4X SUV, the Golf-rivalling 9-1 and this image of the next-generation 9-3.
The newcomer gets a look inspired by the PhoeniX concept that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and also borrows cues from the larger 9-5. That means boldly defined wheelarches, turbine alloy-wheels and a coupe-like roofline.
The biggest changes are at the rear of the car, which gets a more curvaceous design with stylish, narrow tail-lights.
The new 9-3 is expected to launch towards the end of next year and will come with a variety of petrol and diesel engines under the bonnet. At least one – a 1.6-litre turbo petrol – will be sourced from BMW For more details click here.
