Official pictures and details have been released of the new Audi S3 Sportback, ahead of its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
Audi has already unveiled the three-door S3, and the five-door Sportback is powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, producing 296bhp. A six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard but a six-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic gearbox can also be specified, with all S3s fitted with quattro four-wheel drive.
With the dual-clutch gearbox the S3 Sportback can accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.0 seconds, while with the manual it takes 5.5 seconds. The top speed for both is electronically limited to 155mph.
Audi has improved fuel economy over the old S3 Sportback, claiming a figure of 41mpg for the S-Tronic model and 40.4mpg for the six-speed manual.
The S3 has sport suspension that is 25mm lower than the standard set-up to help improve handling, while bigger brakes are fitted, too.
The S3 Sportback gets LED daytime running lights as standard an aluminium-look S grille and four oval exhausts mounted in a diffuser at the rear. Grey wing mirrors and a large rear spoiler complete the look.
The Audi S3 Sportback goes on sale in September, with prices expected to start from around £34,000. For more details click here.
